Dogs and Toxic Masculinity

The vile, rage-filled rant of a so called “professional dog trainer” and his fans yesterday has me reeling.

For the most part, for my mental health, I stay out of the training methodology arguments online because it’s enough to drive me to the brink.

BUT

I cannot ignore blatant misogyny, transphobia, and quite frankly, violence against vulnerable groups of people as well as animals.

The rhetoric I witnessed yesterday is reminiscent of the most extreme hate groups in this country right now. Human beings clinging to the status quo, unwilling to learn, grow, or evolve, and turning to rage, radicalization, and violence at the mere thought that they may have to change.

I’m disgusted.

This is no longer about “dog training”. This isn’t about prong collars and shock collars. Not that these things don't matter - they do, but the root cause of why people are still clinging to these methods so wildly is where I'm currently looking.

This is about fear, toxic masculinity, and the inability to look inward.

This is about being on the wrong side of history.

These kind, intelligent women are on the RIGHT side of history:
